Pakistan’s star wicketkeeper-batter, Mohammad Rizwan, has strongly pushed back against the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), demanding transparency regarding the vague online gambling allegations leveled against him. In an official response obtained by Geo News, Rizwan expressed deep frustration over being kept in the dark about the exact nature of the ongoing inquiry.
Emphasizing his dedicated service to the national team, Rizwan revealed that he received the initial NCCIA notice on September 8. However, he stated that he has yet to be informed of the specific gambling incidents he is allegedly associated with or his supposed role in them. Despite repeatedly requesting clarification and evidence during his recent appearance before the agency, the cricketer noted that officials failed to provide any substantial details.
Taking a firm stance on the legal and sporting protocols, Rizwan challenged the NCCIA’s jurisdiction. He argued that matters concerning player corruption or betting fall strictly under the purview of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). Labeling the NCCIA’s unilateral investigation as “incomprehensible,” Rizwan demanded full disclosure of the charges so he could fairly participate in the process, urging the agency to forward the case directly to the ICC ACU if any legitimate claims exist.
