Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has announced that playing domestic cricket will now be mandatory for players.Speaking informally to the media in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that players will not receive a contract unless they participate in domestic cricket.
He added that any player who does not meet the required category criteria will not be awarded a contract. There will be five categories, and the category structure for Test cricket has been improved.The PCB chairman further stated that Test and T20 categories will be separate and not combined. The decision regarding the Test captain will be made by cricket experts and professionals.
He said that a detailed briefing will be given on Monday, and players will be consulted before that. According to him, the benefits of these changes will become visible within one to two years.
Mohsin Naqvi also mentioned that he is meeting with Younis Khan and expanding the group of cricket experts to help achieve better results. He emphasized that he does not want to take direct control of the selection process and will only provide suggestions when needed.
