During the ODI series opener in Dharamsala, Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a sensational innings, scoring 102 off 51 balls and bringing up his century in only 48 deliveries the fastest ODI hundred by an Afghan batter.
After Afghanistan slipped to 26 for 3, Gurbaz and Hashmatullah Shahidi added 118 runs for the fourth wicket to revive the innings. Gurbaz struck eight sixes and eight fours during his knock.
His 48-ball century broke Mohammad Shahzad’s previous Afghan record of a 72-ball ODI hundred and became his ninth ODI century overall.

However, Gurbaz narrowly missed the record for the fastest ODI century against India, still held by Shahid Afridi, who reached the milestone in 45 balls in 2005. Afghanistan were eventually bowled out for 194, with debutants Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey taking three wickets each.
