He mentioned that before the crucial match, he had asked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan if a private jet could be arranged for the team. He explained that the players would be exhausted after the flight with the team, arriving the next day, and the match would take place the day after. He asked if it would be possible to arrange a private plane, to which Khan responded without hesitation. Wasim Akram shared that Khan had organized the plane for the whole team within just an hour. He remarked that he had never witnessed such generosity and that Shah Rukh’s love for his team was immense.
In his memoir, Wasim Akram stated that coaching the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL was one of his most cherished experiences. Earlier, the management of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad had sent their players to the Maldives during the tournament to help them unwind from the strain of ongoing defeats, allowing them to recharge before the remaining matches.
