Former Indian fast bowler S. Sreesanth has opened up about the darkest phase of his life, revealing that the 2013 spot-fixing controversy pushed him to the edge emotionally.
Recalling his 12 days in police custody and 27 days in Tihar Jail, Sreesanth said it was the toughest time he had ever faced.
The cricketer credited his wife Bhuvaneswari Devi for standing by him when everything seemed to fall apart.
He revealed that he had promised to marry her if India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup, a promise he later fulfilled.
Sreesanth admitted that during his darkest days, his wife’s support became the biggest reason he kept fighting and survived mentally, while also helping him through legal battles as the entire country criticized him.
After being arrested in the Indian Premier League spot-fixing case in 2013, he was ultimately cleared of all charges in 2015, closing one of the most controversial chapters of his career.
