BCCI Explains Decision to Allow Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Parents on Overseas Tour
The BCCI has defended its decision to permit 15-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi to travel with his parents during India’s upcoming tours of Ireland and England.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that it is highly unusual for a player as young as 14 or 15 to be part of a senior national team. He described Suryavanshi as a rare talent, drawing comparisons to Sachin Tendulkar, who also represented India at a remarkably young age.
According to Saikia, young athletes can face unique challenges when entering a senior team environment. The presence of Suryavanshi’s parents is expected to provide emotional support, help him settle into the squad, and ease his transition into international cricket.
The BCCI believes that this arrangement will contribute positively to the teenager’s development and help address potential challenges associated with being one of the youngest members of the national setup.
