Former England coach Andy Flower has officially ruled himself out of the running to become the next head coach of the England Test team. Addressing the recent speculation surrounding his return, the Zimbabwean coach stated that he is fully committed to his current roles and is happy with his ongoing professional engagements.
Flower is currently occupied with coaching assignments in various leagues, including his role at London Spirit in ‘The Hundred’. Explaining his decision, he noted that he does not believe it is feasible to simultaneously manage league commitments alongside the rigorous demands of the England national team.
This development comes as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) continues its search for a successor to Brendon McCullum. The ECB parted ways with McCullum earlier this week following a disappointing Test series loss against New Zealand. As the board now shifts its focus to identifying a new leader for the red-ball side ahead of upcoming challenges, Flower’s withdrawal marks a significant turn in the recruitment process.
