The International Cricket Council (ICC) has formally sanctioned Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz following a breach of anti-doping regulations during the T20 World Cup.
Nawaz, who proactively admitted to the violation and opted for a voluntary suspension, has been handed a three-month ban that concluded on May 1. As a consequence of the ruling, all of the cricketer’s match records from February 7 through May 1—a period beginning with the series against the Netherlands—have been disqualified.
The ICC clarified that the substance in question was consumed outside of the World Cup competition and was unrelated to enhancing on-field performance. Consequently, the governing body has stated that no further period of ineligibility is required, provided that Nawaz successfully completes an ICC-mandated rehabilitation program.
