Pakistan, West Indies Likely to Replace ODIs with T20Is in Upcoming Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) are in discussions to drop the ODI matches from their scheduled white-ball series in July–August 2025, and instead play additional T20Is.

Under the current plan, Pakistan is set to tour the West Indies for three T20 Internationals (July 31, August 2, 3 in Florida) and three ODIs (August 8, 10, 12 in Trinidad). However, both boards are considering a format change to prioritize T20 cricket.

This shift aims to help both teams prepare for major upcoming tournaments, including the 2025 Asia Cup (T20 format) and the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. The idea is to use these matches to test combinations and build squad depth for the shortest format.

A similar move was seen earlier when PCB and BCB dropped ODIs in favor of T20Is due to regional and preparation-related considerations.
Schedule of West Indies men’s home white-ball series against Pakistan:

July 31, 2025 – First T20I – Broward County, Florida
August 2, 2025 – Second T20I – Broward County, Florida
August 3, 2025 – Third T20I – Broward County, Florida

August 8, 2025 – First ODI – Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad
August 10, 2025 – Second ODI – Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad
August 12, 2025 – Third ODI – Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad
