A bitter war of words has erupted between legendary former Pakistan spinners Tauseef Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq over spin all-rounder Shadab Khan’s status and alleged favoritism within the national setup.
Speaking on a digital sports platform, Tauseef launched an explosive broadside against Saqlain, accusing the former head coach of blinded partiality toward his son-in-law, Shadab. Tauseef claimed that Saqlain had previously telephoned him and mediated through third parties to lobby on Shadab’s behalf, asserting that he holds audio recordings to substantiate his claims. He further questioned the fairness of the PCB’s central contract distribution, arguing that struggling players receive top-tier perks while leaders like Shan Masood are demoted to Category C or D, leaving deserving domestic talents like young spinner Sufiyan Muqeem overlooked.
In a sharp public retort, Saqlain Mushtaq hit back on social media, challenging Tauseef to release the alleged audio recordings to the public. Saqlain clarified that any past communication with Tauseef was conducted solely out of professional respect for a senior peer. Denouncing the accusations as defamatory distortions, Saqlain stated that he holds complete documentation of their interactions and will not hesitate to unveil the full facts to let the public judge the truth for themselves.
